While Shepherds Watched (Sweet Bells) – Learning Tracks

This alternative version of While Shepherds watched is gaining popularity and I have heard numerous versions in pub Christmas singalongs in recent years.  This apparently originates in Yorkshire but the details are unknown.  The refrain must be sung after each verse.  Contrast can be obtained by varying dynamics though the verses as is suggested on the right hand page.

As with all hymn like tunes, the words to each verse fit beautifully with each verse and it is easier once you have learnt your part.  The added use of hand bells in the chorus could provide some extra colour and visual interest!
