The Silver Swan – Learning TracksView Craig McLeish's Full Store
One of my all time top pieces of music period! It’s small but perfectly formed, and what I find so remarkable is that any of the 5 voice parts could be the melody, they are so beautifully constructed. Some versions have the 2nd Alto line as a first tenor, and you may need to redistribute the parts slightly depending on the forces at your disposal.
Best not rushed, and nothing above a mild mp, with the final lines fading away as the swan itself fades. Madrigals were of course designed to be sung one to a part, but if they are learned well and each part match phrasing and breathing well they work fine for choirs too. Try this and you won’t be disappointed.
