The Angel Gabriel – Learning Tracks

I have always loved the tune of this Basque Folk Carol describing the Annunciation, since singing it as a young girl in a village church choir many years ago. The arrangement alternates between 2 and 3 parts. Alto 2 leads with the original tune. There is unison singing, occasional dissonance and bare 4th and 5th intervals (a good exercise for part tuning). 3-part chords colour specific words. The overall effect should be quiet restraint and awe, but all 3 parts can enjoy the full sound of the “Gloria”, especially in the final 5 bars!
