The bespectacled Proclaimers may seem unlikely pop heroes, but think about how many times you’ve heard 500 miles in any context – And I’ve been delighted to discover that “Sunshine On Leith” ranks among many people’s top 5 of all time. It has echoes of both the spiritual and social in equal measure and if you haven’t yet seen the YouTube Videos of 40,000 Hibernian fans singing it after their cup final win in 2016 then do yourself a favour!

Emotional and Moving
This is a sensitive and beautiful arrangement of a fantastic song. I liked this song to begin with, but the more I hear it being sung by my community choir, the I appreciate the meaning behind the words. Our last performance of this, I had to choke back the tears and lump in my throat as it connected with me emotionally. The choir are completely behind this song and sing it with such intimacy and intensity and I think this is down to the way the arrangement has been penned. Highly recommended.
Great Arrangement Of This Beautiful Song
I have always loved this song, not necessarily for the sentiments it expresses but more how all the notes are in absolutely the right place to make me close my eyes and inwardly smile!! Craig McLeish has done a great job with this SATB arrangement and I am so looking forward to singing it with the 3 other members of my mixed quartet not least because it is accompanied and we mostly sing a cappella.
If you’re looking for a power ballad to wave a candle to you won’t go far wrong with this one…….imho!
