Space Oddity – Backing Track
View Timothy Allen's Full StoreDavid Bowie’s classic is given a respectful choral make-over here, generally staying fairly true to the original, whilst taking advantage of the extra voices available in a choir. The opening countdown for the sopranos and altos should be delivered as expressionlessly as possible, including the final “Lift off”. There are some great moments of dynamic contrast too, especially the build through the repeated “Can you hear me, Major Tom?” to the sudden stillness and quiet of “Here am I floating round my tin can”. The echoed ending should fade away to silence.
A piano part is included with the sheet music for this arrangement, but it is designed to be performed to the backing track available here as a single-licence purchase for use with your choir.
