Sing No Sad Songs For Me – Learning TracksView Kate Shipway's Full Store
My setting of this poem deliberately isn’t particularly melancholy in line with what I feel the author is saying, even though the poem is about what should happen when the ‘speaker’ is dead. There are a few scrunchy moments but these always resolve. I set it for upper voices as I wanted a more homogenous sound than you’d get with mixed voices.
You may find the words in Christina Rossetti’s poem bring up some mixed emotions. They certainly did for me!
