Shiny Happy People – Learning TracksView Craig McLeish's Full Store
There is some confusion about the real story behind this song. It was originally thought to be some sort of ironic comment on the happy facade of modern Communism. However in a more recent interview Michael Stipe has countered that with a simple tale of a bet that one of his band mates made with him, that he couldn’t get a children’s song into the charts. Whichever you believe, (and there’s possibly grounds that both are at least partly true), the catchiness of the song is undeniable and we think it works well in A Capella style.
Be aware of the 2 different tempos that the song requires, and make sure you have a good idea of how to get from one to the other and back again.
