Shallow Brown – Learning Tracks

I first heard this song sung by the late and great Maggie Boyle many years ago and it’s still one of the most beautiful sea shanties I know. It’s simple, and can therefore be harmonised in a number of different ways, but when I found these notes it clicked into place. I arranged this male voice version for the men at Singing In The Shed 2020 (an annual singing event where 120 men meet to sing in an old engine shed in Ironbridge). I'm very pleased with this purchase. Anna has done a marvellous arrangement, giving this beautiful song a light touch, with a satisfying alternation between unison singing and gentle 3 – part harmony. The small male-voiced ensemble I direct love singing this arrangement.
