Scarborough Fair – Learning TracksView Craig McLeish's Full Store
The classic Simon and Garfunkel arrangement of this old folk song has been imprinted on many of our musical memories. Here is my interpretation of their version arranged for 6 part choir. Because of the nature of the original guitar textures which weave through this there is some repetition of little hook lines involved. However this is matched with some subtle changes throughout, so this is by no means straightforward.
The exact quaver rhythms are required to achieve the mesmeric interplay and they change around a bit too! Most of the tune is taken by Tenors, and the countermelodies are passed around the Altos and Sops. With hard work and time this should be very rewarding to learn and perform, a true classic.
