Sakura - SAA - SECURE

A haunting Japanese folk song that’s perfect for spring!

Please note that I’ve designated this arrangement as SAA, but the lowest note of the middle part is only a B below middle C, so it will suit almost anyone who considers themselves a soprano.

If your choir is like mine, with just a small number of men (whose attendance is somewhat unreliable), this arrangement actually works very well. The trick is to put the men (when they turn up!) on alto 1, singing down the octave alongside women singing the part at pitch.

The words are spelled out phonetically in the score so the lyrics are surprisingly easy to get to grips with. The second page of the score is just a rough translation of the poem – it’s probably not necessary to share it with your singers, but definitely worth having on hand when teaching them the song.

Rehearsal tracks performed by Louise Eekelaar (www.louise-eekelaar.co.uk) and Eleanor Rastall (www.eleanorrastall.co.uk).

This resource pack contains the sheet music score and full learning tracks for each separate part, as well as the ensemble recording above.
