My Love is but a Lassie Yet – Learning Tracks
View Fiona Lander's Full StoreA fun and humorous song based on the words of Robbie Burns, penned in 1789. The tune itself is a setting of Lady Bandiscoth’s Reel. This arrangement is quite a challenge to sing, due to the speed, the words and phrasing, particularly where quavers are involved, so it would probably suit a smaller group of singers.
Rehearsing it as a spoken piece first, might be a good idea starting slowly and gradually increasing the speed. Keep the crotchets short and light unless otherwise specified to create the bouncy, energetic sound that’s required.
This would make a great closing number as part of a short set of folk songs.
