Lovely On The Water – Learning TracksView Craig McLeish's Full Store
A song of unknown origin collected by Cecil Sharp in the late 19th Century. Ralph Vaughan Williams also collected a version in Walsham Norfolk in 1908 and eventually
arranged it in 1926. Steeleye Span recorded a version in 1971 but there are very few other authentic recordings. I first heard it in 2015 when the folk singer Sam Lee performed it at the Camden Roundhouse during the wonderful festival Voices Now. He strolled through the choirs and involved us all in humming improvised backing harmonies.
This version has been arranged after listening to 4 or 5 different groups – I have tried to score some of the folky ornamentation – you can simplify these in whichever way you like.
A beautiful arrangement of this English folk tune. Highly recommended!
Another Beautiful arrangement from Craig. Always imaginative and sensitive to what the song is saying. And yet still manages to keep the parts simple to learn. Highly recommend this arrangement.
