Jingle Bells – Learning Tracks
View Gitika Partington's Full StoreA lively version of the traditional classic – this is jingle bells with extra adrenaline, almost the faster it is sung the better. It was written by James Lord Pierpont (1822–1893) and published under the title “One Horse Open Sleigh” in the autumn of 1857. There seems to be arguments among historians about who it was written for as it is considered possibly too ‘racey’ for non-secular groups of the time. This version has lots of extra rhythmic patterns in the outer parts, so would be intermediate in level, for that reason, but is quite repetitive in its structure. It will need good rhythmic control and everyone will have to watch the conductor ! What can be more satisfying than finishing a Christmas song with a cha-cha-cha!
