I’m Still Standing – Learning tracks
View Wendy Sergeant's Full StoreI arranged this specially for our very first Portishead Festival of Song which was planned for June 2020. Sadly, the Corona virus lock down meant the festival was cancelled but we did nevertheless teach the song on Zoom to over 60 singers from lots of different choirs and groups. My co-teachers for this were Catherine Smith, Katherine Everett and Doug Watts – who appear alongside me on the teaching video.
It’s an uplifting song about rising above adversity – very appropriate for the lockdown period!
It needs a strong rhythmic pulse from the basses and the words require lots of articulation. The tune should be prominent as it swaps between the voice parts. To make it easier to learn I didn’t include the 2nd verse words but I have put these at the end for anyone who wants to sing them.
