My friend Blythe Pepino fronts the band Mesadorm and wrote this catchy and beautiful song. It sings about the complicated nature of families and intergenerational love. I think it is a really tender and truthful exploration of those familial bonds. The original band recording features vocals from three generations of Blythe’s family, including her Grandma who joins for the chorus sections. There’s something so universal about the theme that I thought it would be a really moving song to bring to choir, hence this arrangement. I’ve done it with a few groups now and it always connects with choir members and audiences alike.
