This song was made famous worldwide by The Carpenters in 1970, though it had been released in 1963 by Richard Chamberlain, in 1964 by Dionne Warwick and in 1968 by Bacharach himself. On a personal note (the arranger writes) – we had the tune at our wedding in 2001! Suitable for confident choirs, this six-part arrangement seeks to transfer the delicate orchestration and soft-focus vocal harmony to the world of mixed-voice a cappella.
