Bambelela – Sheet Music
View Craig McLeish's Full StoreSouth African – Zulu – literal meaning “Hold On”
A really catchy South African song often used in church with slightly different words – this secular version is useful particularly for outdoor spots at festivals! As with most of these chants from various countries in Africa it is fun to build up the parts one by one then the audience can hear the individual parts clearer and “get on board” if they are invited!
You will notice the cantor part is just a suggestion and should ideally be improvised each time. However it is up to him or her to decide on the words of each verse, as they pre-call the first line.
Our learning track is just a demo and shortened deliberately just to show the parts. You can have fun with extreme dynamics, dropping parts out and encouraging others to improvise too.
